Yes, after trading vehicles, it's necessary to update the title and registration; this can be done at your local DMV. Potluck Auto Trades will help you with the correct forms for your state. You must also pay taxes in any uneven trade if you paid additional cash compensation for the higher value vehicle.
Can I list my car on Potluck if it’s leased or financed?
It is possible to transfer titles on leased and financed vehicles, though we recommend listing your car only if you own it outright. Transferring titles on leased and financed vehicles involves additional parties and becomes more complicated. Plus, you’re more likely to find a trade if you own your vehicle outright.
